Color Video

The color wheel has been used since about the 1700's. It is useful in understanding which colors can be placed correctly by each other. The standard color wheel has 12 standard colors. There are different types of color wheels available, an example would be the RGB color wheel. All colors have three things that can affect it, hue, saturation and value. Hue is another word for color, Saturation refers to a colors balance. Grey's and browns are both colors created by desaturated colors on the color wheel. Value is very important. Without it there is no colors. Value tells us where one color ends and another begins. Three things should be looked at when analyzing a color, value, saturation and hue. Value establishes visible clarity. It is important to calibrate monitors and printers in order to be accurate when printing. When calibrating it Is important it to save initial calibration settings. It is important to calibrate in the lighting you use. it is important to ask and look around, asking other people how they calibrate their monitors. If color is very important to your work you should invest in a professional calibration tool. RGB, CMYK and SPOT are the most commonly used by designers. RGB values range from 0 to 255. They are light based and for on screen used. CMYK is mostly used in printing. SPOT colors are pre made colors used for printing.
